INSTRUCTIONS

fig 1.0 | Module Information Booklet (MIB)

Create an infographic animation based on Project 1 that either raises awareness, explains a process, or defines a concept using photography, vector imagery, and time-based media. Structure the content using LATCH principles (Location, Alphabet, Time, Category, Hierarchy) and maintain a clear organisation. Apply animation and visualisation principles to enhance aesthetics and cognitive understanding. Ensure the presentation clearly shows cause and effect, integrates text, numbers, and images, and keeps content concise and easily visible. Use multiple charts to represent data effectively while maintaining accuracy. The final design should be visually engaging, informative, and well-structured for the target audience.

PROCESS

SLIDES:

fig 1.1

Our presentation on (week 2), Stereotypes Against Gen Z focuses on clearing up mistaken beliefs that affect Generation Z. The presentation examines how these generalizations about laziness and dependence on technology along with lack of work ethic affect Generation Z both personally and professionally. The presentation underscores the need to combat generalizations because such actions enhance workplace relations and better reflect Gen Z's capabilities.

Objective(s):

The presentation establishes its fundamental purpose as the identification of Gen Z misconceptions through solid factual evidence. The presentation seeks to present both favorable and unfavorable aspects of Gen Z individuals while creating understanding between generations for mutual appreciation. The presentation finds two main purposes to educate audiences about stereotyping consequences while driving Gen Z confidence growth and improving intergenerational interactions in various professional and social environments.

The topic idea was suggested by me as well as the ideation of the story for the infographic animation.

The task was split as followed:

I was in charge of The Character art and Animation Team, and we decided to have me design all the scenes and handover to  Zi Qi to animate them as neatly and minimal as possible.

Storyboarding

fig 1.4

After the storyboarding team has done their work, the storyboards were sent in the google drive for me to dissect them and turn them into cut scene (still) animation panels in illustrator and separate each of the illustrations apart for the other animator to freely edit them. There were a total of 25 still scenes that I made using illustrator after designing the character.

After Designing the angry bossman in Illustrator, I show my teammates for approval and they proceed the storyboard according to the character.

fig 1.6

I compiled the all the illustrator files into a google drive and handover to the next animator.

FEEDBACK

Week 2
- We came up with a few ideas for our topic and our lecturer sugested us to take the Gen Z one as it was more interesting.
- Our lecturer had given us suggestion about our topic that we should focus on a specific target audience instead a widespread larger one.

Week 5
- We showed him our story ideation and it was fine, we could proceed.

Week 6
- Our lecturer said it was all good and we can proceed and show him more progress later

REFLECTION

Findings
The Information Design module introduced me to main design principles which included content organization through LATCH and animation for visual appeal and cognitive visualization for understanding disclosure. The module put forth causality as well as multivariate graphics and proper word-image balance as essential elements. The lesson taught me to keep essential information visible at all times alongside the practice of showing different data points through multiple charts as well as how to properly present quantifiable data. Multiple design principles provided me with enhanced capabilities to produce visual content that is both structured and engaging and meaningful.

Observations
Successful information design necessitates proper integration of systematized organization with resourceful artistic methods. LATCH helped create an easier direction system but animation principles prevented distractions and kept users engaged with the content. The location of graphical elements in addition to their clarity standards directly determined how users processed the data presented. A harmonious integration of numbers and words and images made the message easy to understand for users. Assessments and consultations produced helpful input which showed that simplification of complicated data should happen while retaining accuracy in the information.

Conclusion
The module provided me with an opportunity to develop essential analytical and design abilities significantly. The module taught me to comprehend the significant role organization alongside aesthetics and cognition in designing effective communication. My self-analysis has shown me my strong points and weaknesses which directs my progress in information design. I will use these principles to develop meaningful designs that are visually attractive and structurally organized and dedicated to finding new ways for improving clarity and effectiveness in my future work.
